Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Music Theory For Bass Course?

Music Theory For Bass is a two volume course devoted to music theory from the absolute basics all the way through to advanced degree level jazz harmony.

Volume 2: Applied Harmony follows on from the fundamentals of Volume 1 by moving into more advanced territory.

In Volume 2 we look at the chords of the major and minor keys and how chord progressions are created, modulation, secondary dominant chords, substitutions, modal harmony, diminished harmony, altered chords and much more. This is a deep dive into Harmony, both traditional and modern.

Volume 2: Applied Harmony contains over 8 hours of video content spread over 47 lessons and 136 pages of lesson material.

Each lesson culminates with an online test that will quiz you on all of the information covered in that video.

What level of player is the course aimed at?

The course is aimed at players of any bass skill level from beginner to advanced. But from a theory perspective, volume 2 requires an intermediate level from the start.

What Will I Learn?

1 review for Ultimate Music Theory For Bass Volume 2

  1. John Robertson (verified owner)

Apart from the occasional typo, this course is fantastic. As usual Mark provides the essential information without a lot of fluff but always in context. Not theory for its own sake. I’m already putting the knowledge to use in my band’s compositions.
