What is the Music Theory For Bass Course?
Music Theory For Bass is a two volume course devoted to music theory from the absolute basics all the way through to advanced degree level jazz harmony.
Volume 2: Applied Harmony follows on from the fundamentals of Volume 1 by moving into more advanced territory.
In Volume 2 we look at the chords of the major and minor keys and how chord progressions are created, modulation, secondary dominant chords, substitutions, modal harmony, diminished harmony, altered chords and much more. This is a deep dive into Harmony, both traditional and modern.
Volume 2: Applied Harmony contains over 8 hours of video content spread over 47 lessons and 136 pages of lesson material.
Each lesson culminates with an online test that will quiz you on all of the information covered in that video.
What level of player is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at players of any bass skill level from beginner to advanced. But from a theory perspective, volume 2 requires an intermediate level from the start.
What Will I Learn?
After completing the course you will have developed a foundation in all areas of music theory and functional harmony. The course is comparable to enrolment in a college harmony class. At a significantly lesser price!
How Long Are The Lessons?

Can I see a sample lesson from the course?
Of course! This is lesson 3-8 where we deal with Tritone Substitution. This is a lesson from later in the course, so don’t worry. You will be slowly taught to this point in simple steps.
